I had a wonderful surprise today as the lovely Becky at Treasured Travels nominated me for a Liebster Award! This is my first nomination, and as someone who is fairly new to this whole travel blogging world, it is very exciting. Thank you so much Becky – make sure you check out her fabulous blog!

The rules for the award are simple:

  1. Answer the 11 questions that you’ve been asked
  2.  Nominate 11 other bloggers
  3. Ask your nominees 11 questions
  4. Let them know you nominated them

The questions Becky asked me are:

How would you describe your blog using just three words?

Inspiring, Memories, New

Which country is top of your travel bucket list?

My bucket list is long, and growing by the month. I am struggling tick things off before I add more. I was lucky enough to tick off one of my big ones this year. But I would have to say top now is Peru, and Machu Piccu. I have dreamed of going here for as long as I can remember and it is my aim to be there on my 30th birthday.

What’s the best hotel you’ve ever stayed at and why?

Ah, this one is easy for me. It has to be El Fenn in Marrakech. I still dream about this hotel. Everything about it was magical; from the hidden door to enter, the tortoises wandering around, the peaceful courtyards complete with hammocks, the afternoon tea treats, the beautiful decor, the no key policy, the tranquil roof terrace and fountains. I could go on for ever. It was also in such a fantastic location – such easy access into the souks. It made my trip to Marrakech just so special.

Aside from travel, what is your passion?

Events and, in particular, wedding planning. I love my job and feel so luckily to get to be a part of this industry.

What’s your favourite book and why?

Now I would say Harry Potter, but technically that is a series and also kind of a lifestyle and I can’t chose one. So it would have to be Lord of the Rings (yes, I know it is trilogy, but it comes in one book). Geek alert. My copy of this book has been with me across so many countries, and is now synonymous with travel for me. I love the story of such an epic journey. Special mention has to go to Pride and Prejudice, which always calms me.

What is your most and least favourite thing about blogging?

My favourite thing would be writing down my memories and reliving some of my favourite trips. Least favourite – when you haven’t engaged in a while and worry about missing out. FOMO is a real thing.

What’s your favourite type of food?

Specifically – Pad Thai. I am in a never ending search to find one in England that is good as the one I had freshly made from a cart on the Khao San Road. I fear the search may be futile.

Why did you start your blog?

Really, as an online diary for me. I had this goal of visiting 30 countries before 30 and wanted to write a memoir of where I had been in the past and how it was going. I then found it very therapeutic to write and enjoyed being a small part of a community.

What is your dream job?

To be a destination wedding planner. I love planning weddings and feel so lucky to be able to do it as part of my career. My dream would be to combine this with my love of travel and set up my own company planning weddings for people abroad.

Winter or summer? Why?

Definitely without a shadow of a doubt, winter. I love being cosy in the evening with a blanket on the sofa, a cup of tea and a candle burning. I love snuggly winter jumpers, scarves, hats and gloves. Nothing beats a walk on a cold, crisp winters day. Frost makes everything so delicate and beautiful. Snow is one of my favourite things in the world. I love seeing my breath and having pink cheeks and that toasty feeling when you come in from being inside. Christmas, mulled wine, carols. And you can ski in winter!

If you could choose just one, what super power would you have and why?

Perhaps a little cliched, but I would love to be able to disapparate. To be able to go one from location to anywhere else in the world in a second. Well, what could be more amazing than that?

The questions I want to ask are:

  1. Which country has most inspired you?
  2. What do you hope to achieve from your blog?
  3. What two things can you not leave the house without?
  4. Has a particular blogger inspired you?
  5. Where do you want to be in the next two years?
  6. What is your favourite childhood memory?
  7. What is your favourite post you have written?
  8. Is there a quote that inspires you?
  9. What is the best bit of advice you have been given?
  10. If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do?
  11. Where would you like to visit next?

The bloggers I want to nominate are:

Kirsty Leanne

Sophies Suitcase

Girls Goes To

Six Year Gap Year

Traveling with Jen

Laura Reflected

Paige Minds the Gap

Thank you again to Becky for the nomination for the Liebester Award and Happy Christmas!

Love this 🙂 I’m hoping to go to Marrakech in March so will be sure to check out the hotel you mentioned. I also agree on the Pad Thai front- nothing I’ve found anywhere else can beat the street food in Bangkok! I might have to go back just for that…
